Larrazabal's impressive performance followed his challenging rounds at the PGA Championship, where he demonstrated his resilience and determination. A flawless Saturday round of 67 propelled him into the final day with a narrow one-shot lead.

Although Larrazabal faced early struggles in the last round, including a wayward tee shot resulting in a double-bogey on the second hole and the loss of his overnight lead, the seasoned golfer rallied with back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes, displaying a masterclass in putting on the final day.

With a composed final round score of three-under-par 69, Larrazabal held off his fellow countryman Adrian Otaegui by a two-shot margin. The 40-year-old golfer finished with a flourish, sinking birdies on the 15th, 17th, and a magnificent 20-foot putt on the 18th, celebrating with a display of sheer joy at the Bernardus Golf Course.

Reflecting on his remarkable victory, Larrazabal shared, "It doesn't matter how fast you run at the beginning; you must run fast at the end to win the race. And that's what I did. What a putt on the last. I tried to make two putts from 20 feet, and suddenly I made it. I'm so proud of myself and so proud of my team. We struggled big time through Covid, but here we are – four wins in the last 15 months. It means too much to me."

Larrazabal drew inspiration from the legendary Miguel Angel Jimenez, a fellow Spanish golfer and a stalwart on the European Tour, who continued to thrive competitively after turning 40. Larrazabal expressed his hope to emulate even a fraction of Jimenez's success, saying, "Hopefully, I do 20 percent of what Miguel did in his 40s. This is the first win of 40."

Adrian Otaegui secured a commendable second-place finish at 11-under-par, while Rasmus Hojgaard from Denmark and Deon Germishuys from South Africa tied for third position at 10-under. New Zealand's Daniel Hillier also impressed with his best-ever finish on the DP World Tour, rounding out the top-five at nine-under.

Pablo Larrazabal's victory at the KLM Open showcased his exceptional skill and unwavering determination, solidifying his status as one of the top golfers on the DP World Tour.
